A independent adoption involves an adoption without an adoption agency where the prospective adoptive parents and expectant birth parents locate one another, usually through newspaper or internet advertisements or introductions by mutual friends, relatives or acquaintances. Once the parties locate one another, they begin working together to develop an “adoption plan.” This negotiation may be made directly by the parties or through their attorneys.
Jennifer can negotiate a birth plan and post-adoption contact agreement on behalf of the prospective adoptive parents and then represent the prospective adoptive parents in termination of the birth parents' parental rights and adoption proceedings.
NOTE: Our law firm is not a licensed child-placing agency. Texas law prohibits attorneys from "placing" children for adoption. We represent parents (birth or prospective adoptive parents) in the adoption process not the "matching" process.
